Hey, I'm Drew
Well, the kids at the gaming center usually call me Hashtag, but I think that’s because some of them don’t really know my name.
I’ve been a gamer for 35 years. My first gaming system was a Nintendo, although I do remember playing an Atari at my Uncle’s house when I was even younger. With a lifetime of gaming, when I built Hashtag’s first studio and running film and TV events, it made perfect sense to do gaming events too. With the advent of mobile games and the prevalence of esports, I joined forces with my friend, and fellow streamer, Kevin, and Tourney Kings was born. We revolutionized the esports scene for mobile gaming and in 2016 we created the World Cup-style events that turned Clash Royale esports into a global superpower. After that we blazed another trail by creating and producing the country’s first live Arena event for Fortnite in March of 2018. Again, we faced adversity with the global pandemic of 2020, and again we led the way into virtual gaming events, with LagSpike, our online Smash Bros Tournament, with over 60 weeks of events, thousands of entrants and more than $40,000 in prizes and productions.
